Jackson extends moratorium on utility-scale solar energy

NY JACKSON — Jackson Town Board votes to extend moratorium on renewable energy development. The board voted 5-0 to continue the temporary freeze on utility-scale solar, wind, and alternative energy facilities through Local Law #1 of 2026. Planning Board Chair Kelly Donahue reported the town's revised solar ordinance has expanded from 5 pages to 25 pages due to changing state regulations.
The updated law will include performance-bond provisions for enforcement; Jackson Solar One, currently operational, failed to meet certain conditional requirements under the existing code. The board also approved bills totaling $178,624.65 across general and highway funds and authorized municipal accounting software purchases.
